Virtual Substitute Teacher Fair

This event successfully connected substitute teachers to education agencies and schools in California. The attendee experience began from a 3D animated virtual lobby which was populated with diverse avatars dressed in casual clothes. The lobby also displayed the event agenda, collaborating partners and even a “Top Ten Teaching Tips For Job Interviews” session on virtual screens. A regional map provided all the districts and counties in the state of California and a “Substitute Pay Rate” shared pay scales per school. Each region was then represented in the exhibit hall. Attendees could talk to district and county representatives one-on-one in each virtual booth and also engage in group chat. They could even view and apply for open positions via the “Job Bank”. A resume search feature made screening candidates easier for employers. The event was accessible via mobile, tablet or laptop devices.
