Virtual Substitute Teacher Fair

This event catered to providing employment to substitute teachers in California. The Tulare County Office of Education did their best to ensure this was an easy to use and informative event. Starting at a virtual 3D lobby, the event had a very lifelike feel. The lobby had animated and customized avatars in casual clothes sitting around or chatting with one another. It also had virtual boards which shared the event agenda, collaborating partners and even ‘Top Ten Teaching Tips For Job Interviews’. A regional map provided a view of counties and districts in the state of California. Attendees could also check out the “Substitute Pay Rate” to learn more about pay scales per school. Each county and school district had a booth in the exhibit hall. Attendees could visit the virtual booths to ask booth representatives questions via chat or book video meetings. They could also view the “Job Bank” for open positions and apply using the given links or explore a booth for Teacher Prep Program which had videos and documents detailing the course and requirements. A resume search feature made screening candidates easier for employers. The event was accessible via mobile, tablet or laptop devices.
